What is Community-Led Housing?

Community-Led Housing is a model for delivering new homes which are designed to meet local housing needs and are owned or managed by the community, for the benefit of the community. This approach puts people before profits and helps to ensure that communities such as villages and parishes have enough affordable homes and the right sort of homes for people who live in the community. This could include homes for older people, affordable homes for families and accessible homes for people with disabilities.

Community-Led Housing projects are led by community groups who are interested in helping to provide new homes for their local area. Projects are usually small-scale and developed in partnership with a community organisation. Once the homes are built, they can be reserved for the benefit of local people and protected for future generations too.
